A Brief Biography of Hujjatul-Islam Sayyid Hassan Khomeini

Birth and Family Origin

Precisely, seventy years after Imam Khomeini's birth, one of his grandsons, who after his recommendation, was named Hassan came to the world. This infant was born on 21/Jul/1972 in Qum. Both his father and mother were of the great Sayyids and were of the most known scientifically families in Iran.

His mother Sayyidah Fatima Tabatabai the daughter of Ayatollah Soltani Tabatabai of Sayyids of Borujerd, who is from the 33th descendants of Imam Hassan (a.s.) and in her family tree, there is a familial relationship with Allama Bahrol'olum. Her mother, named Sadiqeh was the daughter of Ayatollah Sayyid Sadruddin Sadr of the three Maraji (Islamic jurisprudents) and the granddaughter of Ayatollah Qumi, of the great Marajis.

Sayyid Hassan's father, Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini, was the son of Rouhollah Khomeini (his father) and Khadija Saqafi (his mother), the daughter of Ayatollah Mirza Muhammad Saqafi of the most famous Allamas.



Childhood and Juvenile



Sayyid Hassan passed his childhood in Qum and Najaf alternately, with his maternal grandfather "Ayatollah Soltani" and his paternal grandfather "Imam Khomeini" and received their love and kindness. During the days of the Islamic revolution he was in Najaf and Tehran and he also experienced the environment of being in Paris (Neauphle-le-Château).






Academic Education

Sayyid Hassan begins his primary education in Najaf (Alavi School) and he continues studying in "19th Dey" and "Pars" in Qum and Tehran's "Nikan" school, and eventually finishes in the school of Habib ibn Mazahir in Jamaran. Selecting the last school was because of security matters.

He spent middle school and high school in Nikan school but in 1366 (2nd grade of high school) he went to the fronts of the imposed war and finally in 1369 when he passed 4th grade of high school by self-studying he gained his diploma of mathematics.



Hawza Education

Continuous recommendations of Imam and Sayyid Hassan's father finally worked and he started his Hawza studying in 1989 and after four years which was a year before his father's departure he became a clergy.

At first he studied the basics in the Razaviah School and Kermaniha School and since 1993; he started studying in higher levels. During those days he was at his grandfather's house (Ayatollah Soltani Tabatabaie) all the time and under his surveillance.

· Khiarat (One's Authority to cancel a contract according to Islam): Ayatollah Ostadi

· Rasa'el and Kafayeh (Names of two Islamic books): Ayatollah Ostadi, Ayatollah Mousavi      Bojnourdi

2. The great professors of Philosophy and Theosophy

· Haj Mulla Hadi Sabzevari's book: Hujjatolislam Es'hagh Nia

· Manazel al-Sa'erin (the name of an Islamic book): Ayatollah Ansari Shirazi

· Falsafeh Olia (Higher Philosophy): Ayatollah Javadi Amoli (2years)

3. The great professors of non-Jurisprudence and Principals studies

· Makaseb Haraam [1 year]:Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani

He was also the student of great professors like Ayatollah Mousavi Ardabili, Ayatollah Sane'i and Ayatollah Mo'men.



Sayyid Hassan in Position of a Hawzah's Professor

Sayyid Hassan Khomeini started teaching the basics in the Kermaniha School two years after his entrance in Hawzah, during eight years he taught books such as: Jame al-Moghadamat Siouti, Moghni and Mokhtasar al-Ma'ani, Ma'alem, Sharh Alla'me, Mantegh Mozaffar (names of Islamic books), and since 2000, for ten years he taught the higher levels and during this time he has taught books such as: Rasa'el, Makaseb Haraam, Bai, Khaiarat and Kafaye and he has taught some of them for 2 or 3 times. His philosophy courses in which he teaches the book of Mulla Hadi Sabzevary, started since 2006 and still continues.

Teaching the non-jurisprudence and principal courses started since 2011 and still continues in Dar al-Shafa School in Qum and his classes are one of the most prosperous classes in the Qum's Hawzah.



Other Activities

In addition to his activities and Hawzah preoccupations he started learning new humanistic sciences and he is talented in literature and he is excellently familiar with western philosophy, ethics, sociology, politics, economics and history. He is fluent in both Arabic and English languages, and he repeatedly exercises English language since ten years ago.

The result of his efforts on research is writing books such as "The Basic Jurisprudence in Family Planning", "Ten Articles", the "Reason of the Path" and the precious book the "Encyclopedia of Islamic Sects" which is the result of his ten year efforts on Islamic sects. He is also interested in sports and used to play football in his youth like his father and he is aware of the sportive matters.

Since 1995 and after his father's demise, Hujjatul Islam Sayyid Hassan Khomeini became responsible of Imam's holy shrine and the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works which is a heavy duty beside his other activities, thus in addition to the ceremonies, he usually handles this important issue from Wednesday till Friday evening and after the demise of Sayyid Ahmad (his father) he says his Maghrib and Isha prayers in the holy shrine of Imam Khomeini.



Marriage

The grandson of Imam Khomeini married Sayyidah Fatima the daughter of Sayyid Muhammad Mousavi Bojnurdi of the great Najaf's scholars. She (Sayyidah Fatima) is also the granddaughter of Ayatollah Abolhassan Esfahani. The result of this marriage is three children named Sayyid Ahmad, Sayyidah Narges and Sayyidah Fereshteh.
