Once, when I had the honor of being in the presence of Imam Khomeini, he asked me to convey a message to the members of Parliament regarding a particular matter. He said:
“I do not interfere in the affairs of Parliament. However, if one day I see that Parliament wants to move in a direction contrary to Islam, I, as a humble religious student, will stand against them. For now, it is Parliament, and I respect the law; I do not interfere, and the law must take its course. But if one day I see that something is contrary to Islam, I will stand before all of them, so that it will not be thought that I intend to remain indifferent in the face of what is contrary to Islam.”
