Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini at the Fifth National “Ettefaq” Festival at the Imam Khomeini Shrine said:
"If the Islamic Revolution succeeded, it was because it fulfilled the condition of trust in God (Tawakkul), and it wasn’t just about holding prayer beads. Trust in God means being in the middle of the field; it is positive mysticism."
“If political leaders and the country’s managers want to achieve success, they must equip themselves with the highest levels of scientific knowledge and rational thinking of their era. If you want to accomplish something great, you must build its social network. You must make use of the highest levels of scientific expertise.
“Today, in social matters, no force is as influential as the power of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). If tomorrow our government suffers a setback in social matters, and even in economic and political affairs, it will be because we have failed to pay sufficient attention to this dimension of people-based organizations.”
Referring to the fact that young people are more active in this area, he noted:
“Young people are more attentive to social issues than any other group because they are more idealistic. Another point is that for young people, their workplace is also their place of recreation.
“The book Nour al-Din, Son of Iran is very worth reading. It is easy to see that when this person went to the front, it was because his entire life was there. When a non-governmental organization is established, young people's participation in it is full-time and voluntary.”
Imam’s grandson added:
“Another reason young people are more powerful in our time is that they are aware of and knowledgeable about things that previous generations knew nothing about. The reality is that the world is crossing the boundaries of knowledge. Technological generational change leaves older generations behind. If you do not employ young people, you are, in reality, left behind at the frontiers of knowledge.”
He continued:
“During the war and after the war, wherever we achieved victory, it was because this group became involved in making and taking decisions. One of the problems of our time is that we want young people to accompany us—to sit on the sidelines and tell us what they think. It is extremely important that we believe in the power of young people and entrust responsibilities to them, rather than simply making them youth-affairs advisers whose role is to encourage us.”
Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini stated:
“Keep in mind that sometimes elderly people can see something in an uncut block of stone that a young person cannot see. Our martyred leader used to say that society can move forward on two wings: the wisdom of the elderly and the capabilities of the young.
“We must make use of the experiences of the previous generation. Human beings may take a hundred different paths and fail, while the one-hundred-and-first path succeeds. Anyone who does not study those hundred failures will have to experience them all over again.”
He emphasized:
“There is no problem that can be solved through the inertia of stagnation and the negative resistance of society. If the people are not in agreement with a government decision, that decision will never reach its intended outcome under any circumstances. But if everyone is united and sympathetic toward it, there is no problem that cannot be resolved.
“If we believe in knowledge, science, capability, up-to-date experience, and the power of young people, we will achieve results.”
