In the view of Imam Khomeini, the birth of the noble messenger was not merely a historical event; rather, it signified the beginning of a transformation in which the foundations of oppression and idol worship would be challenged.
By connecting the reported signs accompanying the birth of the holy prophet with the fate of oppressive ruling systems, Imam Khomeini emphasized a fundamental truth: no matter how long-lasting and firmly established a system of oppression may appear, it will not endure forever.
“At the birth of the noble messenger , certain events took place... Among them was the collapse of the Arch of Ctesiphon, with fourteen of its battlements falling from the palace; the fires of the Zoroastrian fire temples in Persia were extinguished; and the idols fell to the ground. This collapse may perhaps have been an indication that, during the era of this great Prophet, the arches of oppression would be broken. In particular, the Arch of Ctesiphon was broken because, at that time, it was the center of the oppression of Anushirvan.”
