Mr. Khameneie (the current leader of the Islamic Revolution) was having a meeting with him (Imam Khomeini). He looked at Mr. Khameneie with a unique fondness. The Imam gave him such a special look—he was in a state in which he could almost no longer speak easily—that I who was in his presence told another of the relatives that: “Look at this gaze; this gaze is by no means normal; there is a world of affection in it.” Moreover, at that moment it did not occur to us that with this gaze the Imam was transferring responsibility; that with this gaze he was transferring the burden. At that time it did not occur to us as we were quite optimistic (for the Imam’s recovery from surgery).
