The veteran Iraqi politician has recently said that he had held a meeting with Imam Khomeini in Neauphle-le-Chateauon the outskirts of Paris nearly 36 years ago.
Masoum recalls that he had offered Imam logistic support during the Iranian nation struggle against the despotic regime of Shah.
However, Imam responded that the Iranian people will pursue their struggle against the Pahlavi regime and its backers in a peaceful manner, the president noted.
The great religious and spiritual leader had emphasized that his followers would rely on divine slogans such as “God is great” , and resist Shah and its brutal policies peacefully, the president adds.
Masoum also says he met with the great Imam for a second time in Tehran following the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
During the meeting Imam showed humbleness by saying that he was just carrying out his religious duties by guiding the Iranian government and nation, the president added.
The memoir comes on the eve of the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution which emerged victorious under the wise leadership of Imam in 1979.
Imam Khomeini spent more than 14 years in exile, in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf. He also spent some time in Turkey and France, before his return to Iran. The day when Imam Khomeini returned to Tehran marks the start of 10 days of celebrations better known as the 10-day Dawn festivities, which culminate the in nationwide rallies on February 11 this year, the anniversary of the triumph of the Islamic Revolution.
