Regarding the gifts presented to the Imam — such as fabrics, turbans, qabas (long coats), Abas (cloaks), shirts, prayer rugs, prayer stones (Mohr), slippers, socks, and skullcaps — he would occasionally take just one item for his own use.

But if there were several of the same item, he would say: "What am I to do with all of these? Give them to people who are in need."

There were also times when it was assumed he had accepted a gift for himself, only for it to later become clear that he had not. In fact, he had intended to personally give that item to a specific person.
